May 24, 2018 (Cumberland, MD) – The Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved during its regularly scheduled public business meeting to retain the services of Stone Consulting, Incorporated to perform an operational audit of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
“The citizens of Allegany County have invested a great deal of time and resources in the success of the scenic railroad. The step taken today is to ensure that those investments are yielding results,” stated Jake C. Shade, President of the Board of County Commissioners.
Stone Consulting, according to its website, has specifically prepared tool and methodology specifically designed for existing railroads like the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. An operational audit was discussed at length during the Board’s deliberations on the County’s Fiscal Year 2019 budget.
“We appreciate the opportunity to tell the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s story and to demonstrate what an asset it is to the community,” commented John Garner, Executive Director of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
