The Tax and Utility Bills Office bills and collects real estate, personal property, corporation, and public utility accounts for Allegany County, the State of Maryland, three municipalities, and 30 special taxing districts.
The State of Maryland established the (Chesapeake) Bay Restoration Fund. The State requires Allegany County to collect mandated fees, commonly called the flush tax.
For the convenience of individuals and businesses, all public water and public sewer bills collected by Allegany County may be automatically paid by being deducted from a personal or business checking account.
