ALLEGANY COUNTY TRANSIT BUS SERVICE RETURNS ON MONDAY, APRIL 5
Allegany County Transit's standard, 'pre-COVID 19,' fixed-route bus service will resume on Monday, April 5, 2021.
Elizabeth A. Robison-Harper, Transit Division Chief, emphasized that ACT is following the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to a CDC Press Release dated January 30, 2021, the CDC is implementing provisions of President Biden's Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel and requiring the wearing of masks by all travelers into, within, or out of the United States, e.g., on buses, etc. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, MPH stated: "Masks are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely and consistently used by all people in public settings." Robinson-Harper stated: "Allegany County Transit requires all passengers to wear masks."
Robison-Harper also advised all passengers, to the extent possible, to choose a seat distant from other passengers who are not members of their household.
Allegany County Transit will clean and disinfect all frequently touched surfaces on the buses throughout the day. The bus windows may be open for fresh air if the weather permits.
