Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) Program Closure.
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on May 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 100 of the County Office Complex located at 701 Kelly Road, Cumberland, Maryland. The hearing concerns the pending closure of JARC Transportation for second and third-shift employees to the North Branch Industrial Park.
Hunter Douglas (the largest employer at the Industrial Park) closed its doors in July 2023, causing a substantial decrease in ridership. One to four people per week now travel one way to the Industrial Park. Some days, no riders use the service. Transit keeps a driver, bus, and mechanic on duty to provide this transportation, which is no longer cost-effective.
