[ARCHIVED] Manual Ballot Tabulation Audit

The Allegany County Board of Elections will conduct the manual ballot audit of the 2020 General Election starting on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 9:00 AM.  In the event of inclement weather, the make-up date will be Monday, February 15, 2021. This audit may take 1 - 2 days to complete and will take place at the Allegany County Office Complex, 701 Kelly Road, Room 100, Cumberland, MD 21502.  This audit is open to the public, however social distancing guidelines will be adhered to, which may include limiting the number of people who can view the audit at one time, keeping any public viewers six feet apart from others, and requiring the use of masks indoors.  If the building is closed to the public, please call 301-777-5931 and staff will unlock the doors to allow you entrance to view the audit.

The Allegany County Board of Elections will manually tally a sample of votes cast for the Office of President and compare the results of the manual tally against the results from the voting system.  This process will determine whether the voting system accurately counted ballots during the 2020 General Election.

The State Board of Elections randomly selected the early voting center and election day vote center to be audited, and the Allegany County Board of Elections randomly selected the mail in and provisional ballots to be audited.  Starting on February 8, 2021, the Allegany County Board of Elections will manually tally the votes for President on:

  1.  437 ballots cast on one scanning unit on the 1st day of early voting at the Allegany County Office Complex

  2. 1,103 ballots cast on election day at the Allegany County Office Complex vote center

  3. 15 mail in ballots
