Maryland Recycling Rate

Maryland Recycling Act Reporting

The Maryland Recycling Act requires Allegany County to divert at least 20% of its solid waste to recycling programs. All counties are required to report their recycling tonnages to the Maryland Department of the Environment. Allegany County’s most recent recycling rate was 39% in 2018, we are still waiting for official 2019 figures. With your corporate support in recycling, Allegany County hopes to again achieve or exceed this rate.

It is very important that the Recycling Office is aware of any materials your company may be diverting from the landfill in the form of recycling or secondary use in the calendar year 2020. Please complete the Annual Recycling Reporting Form (PDF) and mail or fax to our office by March 15, 2021.

The information from this survey will be summarized and published on the website to inform citizens of the dedicated recycling activity in Allegany County.

Thank you for your time and participation. If you have any questions, please contact us by email or by calling 301-777-5933, ext. 210.
